Minutes of the committee meeting of 18th April 2018

- Space4cycling event, Saturday 28th April
JL gave a detailed report on preparations. Several council members from Huddersfield and Colne Valley wards have indicated that they will or may attend, also Barry Sheerman MP. Some councillors have given apologies.
JL will meet people at the Magic Rock brewery, then lead a ride to and around the town centre, approx. 10.15 to 11.00am. RC and PC will go directly to St. Georges Square and man a table. People will be asked to register as supporters.
JL will give a short speech, introduce councillors and invite them to place pledges in a ballot box. One councillor from each party will be given the opportunity to speak.
Following the conclusion of proceedings in the square there will be a return ride to the Magic Rock.

RC highlighted air quality monitoring being undertaken by Huddersfield Friends of the Earth (FOE) and in particular high readings in the vicinity of New Mill crossroads and at times when children are travelling to and from school and waiting at bus stops.
BH mentioned a reference in an election leaflet to progress being made with landowner discussions for a Meltham Greenway extension.
Halifax Road improvement – residents in the vicinity of Blacker Road have been contacted regarding land take. Simon Taylor has confirmed that, as yet, there are no definitive plans for the section between East Street/Birkby Road and Ainley Top.
